Commercial EICR Electrician

With so many electricians claiming to be the best of the best - who do you choose? Our recommendation would be selecting a specialised electrician. So, if you require a commercial EICR, always go for a commercial focused electrical company. They’ll have more experience working on commercial premises plus they’ll have a stronger understanding of the required paperwork. This is vital, if one of your employees is involved in an incident regarding the electrical system, you could be liable if no proof of electrical maintenance is recorded.

Commercial EICRs Explained

A commercial EICR examines a property's electrical system from top to bottom. We use a grading system of codes known as C1, C2, C3 & FI. But what do these mean?

  • C1 - Danger is present, a C1 fault MUST be made safe immediately.
  • C2 - Danger is imminent if ignored. Repair work should be scheduled ASAP.
  • C3 - Think of this like an advisory on your car’s MOT, it should be looked at before it gets any worse.
  • FI - Further investigation. An FI code might be given where lack of verification is spotted or simply your electrician is concerned about something which doesn’t necessarily break any laws regarding electrical compliance. You should note though, FI codes can be enough to make an EICR unsatisfactory.

If remedial work is advised, all relevant repairs must be carried out prior to receiving your pass documents. At EMC Electrical Group, we will do our very best to action remedial work promptly limiting disruption - as they say, time is money!

What can you do to ensure an EICR pass?

The best thing you can do as a business owner is to keep up to date with your EICRs. They are a great form of preventive electrical maintenance - by responding to electrical issues promptly, you're limiting the risk of these silly electrical faults turning into something much more arduous, often leading to costly repairs.
